The 17 million iPhones and 13 million iPod Touches sold make up for a total of 30 million touch devices out there. This is the huge market potential the App Store has! Further evident by the 800,000+ downloads of the SDK since March last year. And last, but not the least, is the 800 million downloads of the 25,000 apps in the App Store.
The iPhone is just a first step, but my dear reader, what a jump? And Social Tornado will set the pace in the global landscape to take things further. Our objective is to create a center of excellence in mobile software development.
If the iPhone wasn’t already an attractive platform—there are over 50,000 registered developers according to Apple’s APIs stall—the new abilities in the latest SDK make the platform even more so.
The iPhone 3.0 OS is a free upgrade for existing iPhone users. It’s still not released however (only the SDK is available to developers as a beta). It will be out in June/July, probably along with the next generation iPhone.
